Mumbai: Lifestyle diseases—such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and obesity—are increasingly becoming a global health challenge. These conditions often develop gradually over time, resulting from prolonged unhealthy habits, stress, and a sedentary lifestyle.
In our modern, fast-paced world, constant exposure to digital screens, poor dietary choices, and chronic stress have compounded the problem, leading to a decline in overall well-being. The good news is that these lifestyle-related health issues can be effectively managed and even prevented by adopting mindful and holistic practices, with yoga being one of the most powerful tools available.
Yoga, with its roots in ancient wisdom, addresses not just the physical body but also the mind and emotions, making it uniquely suited to tackle the complex causes of lifestyle diseases. By integrating simple daily practices such as yogasanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and kriyas (cleansing practices), yoga helps restore balance within the body’s systems. This holistic approach targets the root causes—stress, inactivity, and mental unrest—offering a natural pathway to improved health.
Regular practice under the guidance of experienced teachers can significantly enhance physical flexibility, strengthen the immune system, calm the nervous system, and promote emotional resilience, ultimately empowering individuals to reclaim control over their health and lead a more vibrant life.

Now, as you inhale, push the chest downwards as you extend your chin upwards, while pushing the hips outwards, thus creating an inward bend in the spine.
How to exhale and curl your spine outwards: Bring your chin to your collar-bones, squeeze your belly inwards and look towards your belly. Repeat this movement from upward-facing cat to downward-facing cat 8 – 10 times.
