New Delhi: Julen Lopetegui’s position as West Ham manager appears increasingly uncertain after the club’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday. According to reports, the board is expected to meet this week to determine whether the Spaniard, who joined on a two-year contract last summer, will remain in charge.
Lopetegui arrived at the London Stadium with high expectations, replacing David Moyes after a challenging campaign. Backed by a significant transfer outlay of over £120 million, West Ham brought in nine players, including Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme. However, many of the new recruits have yet to deliver the desired impact.

Fullkrug has not started a league match, and Guilherme has barely featured. Other players, such as Crysencio Summerville, have also struggled to find form, adding to the team’s troubles.
West Ham have managed only one win in their last five matches, leaving them in 14th place. While their summer spending placed them among Europe’s top net spenders, performances have not matched expectations.
The team’s lack of attacking output and defensive issues have drawn comparisons to Moyes’ criticised style, raising questions about Lopetegui’s tactical approach. The decision to sideline set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse has also sparked debate.
West Ham’s board, known for their patience with managers, may hesitate to make an immediate change. However, another poor result could force their hand, with Lopetegui needing a quick turnaround to secure his future
