New Delhi: Formula One season is set to return to action 70 days after the last race of the 2024 season in Abu Dhabi saw McLaren take the Constructors’ Championship and Max Verstappen claiming his fourth successive drivers’ title. Lando Norris won the race with Ferrari team’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who will race for Williams this season, sharing the podium. The post-season testing wrapped and the teams have recharged and prepared themselves for F1’s 75th anniversary.
The F1 grid looks much different from where it left with just McLaren and Aston Martin coming retaining the same driver lineup. Six drivers in fact will head into their first full season in one of the most glamorous motorsport. What everyone will anticipate is for the teams to begin where they left off, making the competition for the constructor’s championship and driver’s championship close.
Before the competition begins though, F1 is going to celebrate the 75th anniversary and launch the season at The O2 where all ten teams will be present.
What is so special about F1 75 Live?
Conventionally, teams would hold their own launch events in February to show the new livery, with some even giving a first look into the car, which some teams even today are following. Both McLaren and Williams held their season launches at Silverstone last week though on separate dates and Ferrari will be hosting theirs in Italy on Wednesday. Aston Martin’s launch is set to be on February 23rd while Mercedes will unveil their W16 one day after.
The cars will then hit the race track in Bahrain on February 26th for the preseason testing, before the season starts in Australia at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit on 16th March.
F1 is starting the launch of its 75th season, with each team getting seven minutes to present the car and the two drivers along with on-stage interviews. The on-stage car may not be the 2025 model but the livery will be of the season. The teams will be presented from the one that finished last previous season to the winners, which helps the smaller teams present their cars before the big names.
Who all will be there at the event?
Apart from the 20 drivers and 10 team principals, the celebrity guests will include motor enthusiasts like Jared Leto, and Idris Elba, with the show being hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall. Whitehall will be joined by F1 commentators and experts like Lawrence Barretto, Ariano Bravo and Laura Winter.
Apart from this, the stage will graced by the British band Take That, Multi-Platinum superstar Kane Brown, mgk and Brian Tyler, whose Formula One theme music is widely recognised and has been streamed more than 75 million times.
When, where and how to watch F1 75 live in India?
Formula 1 fans in India can watch the launch through F1 TV Pro subscribers in real-time. Those who don’t have an F1 subscription can watch it for free through F1’s official social media channels, which includes YouTube. The live broadcast and streaming in India is on February 19th at 1:30 AM IST.
