New Delhi: The drop in Sensex and Nifty affected the market valuation of eight of the top-10 most valued firms In India last week. The eight companies’ market capitalisation dropped
Rs 1,28,913.5 with IT biggies Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys emerging as the biggest laggards. The loss was attributed to a weak trend in equities.

India’s biggest IT firm, TCS was the biggest laggard. The market cap of the company declined Rs 37,971.83 crore to Rs 15,49,626.88 crore. Infosys, the second largest IT company in India, witnessed its market capitalisation plunging Rs 23,811.88 crore to Rs 7,56,250.47 crore.

ITC, the FMC major in the domestic market, reported a drop of Rs 16,619.51 crore to Rs 6,11,423.11 crore in its mcap. State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public sector bank’s market capitalisation slumped by Rs 13,431.54 crore to Rs 7,56,717.85 crore.

Mukesh Ambani-headed Reliance Industries Limited’s valuation witnessed a dip of Rs 13,125.49 crore to Rs 20,28,695.57 crore.

Bharti Airtel’s market valuation declined by Rs 11,821.5 crore to Rs 8,50,389.88 crore, while Hindustan Unilever recorded a dip of Rs 4,288 crore to Rs 6,32,862.41 crore.

The valuation of ICICI Bank dropped by Rs 7,843.75 crore to Rs 8,42,176.78 crore. However, HDFC Bank, country’s largest private sector bank’s mcap surged Rs 32,759.37 crore to Rs 12,63,601.40 crore.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the insurance behemoth’s valuation soared Rs 1,075.25 crore to Rs 7,47,677.98 crore.

It may be noted that last week the BSE benchmark dipped 350.77 points or 0.43 per cent.
