New Delhi: Antonin Kinsky, a 21-year-old Czech goalie, has joined Tottenham from Slavia Prague for a reported £12.5 million. Guglielmo Vicario, Spurs’ starting goalie, has been sidelined since the team’s 4-0 victory over Manchester City on November 24 due to an ankle fracture. Fraser Forster had been filling in for Guglielmo Vicario, but he was ill and missed Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle, so 25-year-old Brandon Austin made his debut. Spurs are currently 12th in the Premier League after winning just two of their last 11 games.
Kinsky has a deal in place through 2031, and the relocation is contingent upon receiving a work permit and international clearance. He joined from Dukla Prague in 2021 and went on loan for a while before settling in at Slavia. The 21-year-old has been a great asset for the 21 times Czech champions as he is having a top season with them. With Tottenham’s both first as well as second choice keepers side-lined due to injuries and illness, this might be the time for Kinsky to shine once he joins the training.

Spurs have been compelled to take action this month, even though teams usually avoid making extravagant purchases during the January transfer window. They will have a busy January as they try to get stronger in some areas. Additionally, Spurs moved swiftly to sign a new goalie. Before rumors circulated about Saturday’s raid for the Czech kid, few people on English soil would have known who Antonin Kinsky was.
Kinsky only made his debut in the Slavia Prague starting lineup this season, but his confident play for the Czech team has already garnered him a horde of fans throughout Europe. For Slavia Prague, which has let up fewer goals (7) than any other team in the Chance Liga this season, he has started all 19 league games. Not surprisingly, Slavia Prague leads the Czech top league with 16 of 19 victories, even if the division is presently on break.
Even though Slavia Prague are ranked 29th out of 36 teams in the Europa League, Kinsky has shown himself to be a reliable presence in between the sticks when needed, and his distribution is a major asset. In fact, the 21-year-old has the highest pass success percentage of 84% among goalkeepers with at least five games in Europe’s second club league. This makes him a perfect example of modern-day goalkeeper, who is good with the ball at his feet and also an exceptional shot stopper. His calmness on the ball and the ability to play with both his feet makes him a great addition to the squad for Ange Postecoglou.
Importantly, Kinsky has not come to serve as Vicario’s backup, rather he is vying for the starting position at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Given that Kinsky is expected to start as the team’s first choice for the rest of the season and possibly beyond, depending on Vicario’s recuperation, it is quite likely that Forster has played his final domestic game for the team. The 21-year-old is a fantastic shot stopper who can deliver the goods for this Tottenham side and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the best league in the world.
With Gugliermo Vicario and Fraser Forster both out of the squad, Antonin Kinsky becomes the latest addition to Tottenham Hotspur’s goalkeeping squad. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
