New Delhi: The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11. This will be the third time that Paris will host the Olympics, having previously hosted the event in 1900 and 1924.
India won a total of seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and this was India’s best performance in the Olympic history in terms of the number of medals won in a single Olympic event.
Neeraj Chopra won a Gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw. Mirabai Chanu and Ravi Kumar Dahiya also won Silver in Wrestling. While, PV Sindhu (Badminton), Lovlina Borgohain (Boxing), Bajrang Punia (Wrestling) and Men’s hockey Team won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The nation will have a high hope from players to break the previous record and bring more glory to the country. Neeraj Chopra the current Olympic Champion, will be one of India’s main medal hopes. While PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen are also strong contenders to win medals for India in Badminton.
Manu Bhaker (Shooting) and Avinash Sable (Athletics) also have a strong chance to win a medal. Vinesh Phogat (Wrestling), Mirabai Chanu (Weightlifting) and Nikhat Zareen (Boxing) are also top contenders in their respective categories. Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams have been performing well and both teams are expected to aim for the podium finishes.
