New Delhi: Indian boxer Laldinsanga Ramlawt etched his name in history books by winning the coveted WBC Youth World title in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 1. The Mizoram boxer defeated Ghanaian boxer Michael Decardi Nelson in a thrilling contest to claim the Bantamweight title and extend his unbeaten streak to nine matches. The championship win adds yet another feather to the young boxer’s spotless boxing career.
Laldinsanga has a flawless record in his career, winning all the nine bouts he has fought so far. Against a formidable opponent in the form of Nelson, Laldinsanga showed exceptional skill, grit and determination to win by a unanimous decision.
Laldinsanga vs Nelson bout was the main event of the Super Fight Series, where the 21-year-old Indian Laldinsanga warded off a tough fight from Nelson. In the end, Laldinsanga claimed the victory 79-71, 77-74 and 78-73 across eight rounds.

Hailing from Lunglei Ramthar in Southern Mizoram, Laldinsanga has shown enough in his short career to be considered a future superstar of Indian boxing. The 21-year-old pugilist is known for controlling the tempo of the fights with neat footwork and strong punching combinations. After the landmark win, Laldinsanga will defend his LPS Pro Fight Bantamweight title on Dec 6 at the LPS Arena in Aizawl. Laldinsanga is only the second Mizo boxer to achieve the feat of winning the WBC Youth World title. Lalrinsanga Tlau was the first Mizo boxer to reach the landmark, winning the super featherweight title in March 2021.
