New Delhi: If you are a Bollywood lover, you surely is aware of the song Deewangi Deewangi from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om, which featured A-listers of the industry. A total of 31 stars appeared in cameo appearances in the song. While some were part of the song, there were a few faces missing such as Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Aamir Khan. So why Amitabh and other stars gave a miss? Let’s delve into details!
Why Amitabh Bachchan was missing from the song?
In an interview, Farah Khan revealed the real reason behind Amitabh Bachchan and other stars not being apart of the Deewangi Deewangi song. Speaking to Pallavi Joshi in a chat shared on IFTDA Official’s YouTube channel, Farah Khan revealed that Big B didn’t come to shoot the song because it was Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding the same week the shoot was scheduled and the industry was not invited.
She shared, “Amitabh Bachchan didn’t come for the Deewangi song shoot because Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan were getting married the same week. Now, the industry was not called (to the wedding), so they all came for the shoot. So that’s good.”
Why Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu were missing?
Farah recalled that Shah Rukh Khan said he would personally go and bring Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar to the set because Farah Khan wanted them in the song. “So, every day I used to ask Shah Rukh, ‘When will Dilip Kumar come?’ and he would say, ‘I will go tomorrow and I will bring them with me’, now it’s been 12 years to that movie and I am still waiting for Shah Rukh Khan to bring them on set,” she shared.
She further revealed Hema Malini was out of the town and they have only six days so everyone “sweetly adjusted and came when they had to shoot”. However, there were a few celebrities who just “gate crashed”.
Celebs who refused to be part of the so
A few other celebs who didn’t appear are Dev Anand, Aamir Khan, and Fardeen Khan. In an interview with Film Companion, Farah said that she asked Dev Anand to appear in the song but he refused saying he has always played the lead roles. Aamir Khan also refused to be apart of the song.
When SRK gifted goodies to celebs
In the same interview, the choreographer revealed that Shah Rukh Khan gifted Rs 1 lakh worth goodie bags to all actors who attended the shoot and the female actors got to keep the costumes, designed by Manish Malhotra, that they wore for the shoot.
For the unversed, the song Deewangi Deewangi featured Dharmendra, Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Karisma Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Saif Ali Khan, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, and Tabu among others.
