WPL 2025: Who won Orange Cap and Purple Cap after Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians final

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians women won the nail-biting final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday to emerge as the champions of the third season. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team triumphed by eight runs to lift their second title in three seasons.

Captain Harmanpreet’s vintage innings of 66 runs from 44 balls and the sluggish show by Nat Sciver-Brunt (30 runs off 28 balls) pushed Mumbai Indians to a sizeable 149 for 7. The target was seemingly a cakewalk for Delhi given the experienced batting unit they had at their disposal.

But then it was the same pressure of the final hurdle which Meg Lanning & Co couldn’t crack. Lanning hit Shabman Ismail for a boundary in the first over of the second innings. She was cleaned up by Nat Sciver-Brunt for 13. Ismail got the better of Verma with both openers back in the pavilion at the end of the third over.

The tumbling continued with the departures of Jess Jonassen and Annabel Sutherland leaving the Capitals reeling at 44 for 4 after the eighth over. Jemimah Rodrigues made an attempt to resurrect the ship but perished while returning a catch to MI all-rounder Amelia Kerr.

Even the late fight from Marizanne Kapp (40 runs off 26 balls) and Niki Prasad (25 runs off 23 balls) couldn’t help the Capitals cross the finishing line as they fell eight runs short of the target.

WPL 2025 Orange Cap winner

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt amassed 523 runs from 10 innings at an average of 65.37 and a strike rate of 152.47 powered by five fifty-plus scores with the best one being an unbeaten 80 against Delhi Capitals in their first game of the tournament. She is the first player in the history of WPL to score more than 500 runs in a single season.

WPL 2025 Purple Cap winner

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Amelia Kerr took the Purple Cap home after picking up 18 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 15.94 and an economy rate of 7.75. She claimed 5 for 38 agaisnt UP Warriorz in a league fixture, which was the best bowling figures for the New Zealand international in this WPL season.

Mumbai Indians clinched the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 title, defeating Delhi Capitals by eight runs in a thrilling final. Despite a late surge by Marizanne Kapp, Delhi’s chase fell short, highlighting MI’s superior all-around performance. Sciver-Brunt’s record-breaking 523 runs marked a historic WPL achievement.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
