New Delhi: The third edition of the much-awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) will start from February 14, Friday. The WPL has a history of producing thrilling cricketing moments since its inception back in 2023. The 2024 season of the league saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), led by Smriti Mandhana, scripting history by securing their maiden WPL title after beating Delhi Capitals in the final.
The inaugural edition in 2023 saw Mumbai Indians beat the Capitals in a close final game. As the women’s cricket league starts, all the yes would be on the five participating teams as they will fight it hard for the elusive title. There will be some of the top international and domestic stars in action in the women’s league.

Meg Lanning is the leading run-scorer in the tournament history with 676 runs in her kitty from 18 matches. Ellyse Perry is second on the list with 600 runs in 17 matches while Shafali Varma occupies the third spot with 561 in 18 matches. Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt are on the fourth and fifth positions on the list with 549 and 504 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Meg Lanning holds the record for most fifties in the event as she has hit 6 half-centuries till now. Harmanpreet Kaur is next on the list with 5 fifties in 17 matches while Shafali Varma also has five fifties to her name. Tahila McGrath and Ellyse Perry have hit four half-centuries respectively.
