Things turned around in the game for Derbyshire after they were comfortably placed at 150 for 4 on the second day. Chahal came to haunt the well-placed side as they lost the last six wickets for just 15 runs. The superior spin bowler also got help from the pitch and got the crucial wicket of Wayne Madsen, who got out for 47.
Chahal, taking some help from the pitch, ran through the opposition’s middle and lower order value adding value to his team. The leg-spinner picked a five-wicket haul in the only One-Day Cup match he played for Northamptonshire against his former club, Kent, on August 14.
Chahal just managed one wicket in his first two County Championship Division Two matches for Northamptonshire. The leg-spinner will look to build on his impressive show after having signed up to play a total of five first-class matches in this season for Northamptonshire.
