New Delhi: England’s Test opener Zak Crawley achieved a unique record in the ongoing Test match between New Zealand and England in Wellington, New Zealand on December 6, Friday. Crawley smashed a six in the first over of the innings against Tim Southee and made history by becoming the second player in Test cricket history to hit a six in the first over of the innings.
New Zealand’s skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bowl first, Crawley is known for his hard-hitting quick start to his team. Southee opened the bowling for Kiwi’s side and bowled his first bowl an inswinger, which caught the inside edge of Crawley’s bat.
Crawley opened his account with two runs in the first delivery. Southee bowled the next delivery outside off, in which Crawley leaned on and drove the ball to mid-off. Crawley looked to gain confidence in the next three deliveries as he defended the bowl well.
Southee bowled an over-pitch delivery outside off stump and Crawley put a great forward stride and reached easily to the ball and banged on with a flat six in the last bowl of the first over. Crawley scored 10 runs in the first over of the Test match which is rarely seen in Test cricket.
