Washington DC: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has praised former US President Donald Trump, calling him ‘badass’ and inspiring after Trump survived an assassination attempt, though he refrained from endorsing the Republican party or any presidential candidate.
However, Zuckerberg clarified that he remains neutral and does not support Trump, Joe Biden, or any other candidate in the upcoming November U.S. elections in any way, reported Bloomberg news agency.
“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg told a leading daily.
Zuckerberg’s remarks come as several influential figures in Silicon Valley, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, endorse Trump for president.
Trump survived assassination attempt with one bullet razing his ears during a political campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on 13th July. Law enforcement agencies are working on investigating the incident.
Meta has often flagged Trump’s posts for containing misinformation and violating content policies on its platforms. Additionally, it suspended his Facebook and Instagram accounts for nearly two years following the January 2021 Capitol riots.
