New Delhi: Indian wrestler turned MMA fighter Sangram Singh dominated Pakistani fighter Ali Raza Nasir in his debut fight in MMA. Sangram defeated Nasir in just 90 seconds at the GAMA International Fighting Championship. Sangram showed great grappling skills as he took down the Pakistani fighter in the initial minutes of the fight. There was a 17-year age gap between Sangram and Nasir, Nasir was 17 years younger than Sangram and Sangram shared the experience and beat the Pakistani in just 90 seconds.
The bout was in the 93 kg division in the heavyweight, it was such a highly high-anticipated match as fans were keen to watch the India and Pakistan match in other sports fields. It was a great transition from an Indian fighter as he is 39 years of age and he swiftly transition his wrestling skills to MMA.
The historic win from Sangram put him in the records book as he became the first Indian wrestler to win his debut fight in the MMA sport. This was also the fastest win by an Indian wrestler in MMA and will motivate the young lads of India to prepare for MMA.
Sangram expressed feelings after the win, stating “I am immensely proud to bring this victory home for India. I hope this global recognition motivates the Indian government to support MMA and inspire young athletes to pursue this sport.”
Sangram was declared the best professional wrestler in 2012 and has multiple wins in the heavyweight division in the Heavyweight championship in 2015-16. After he participated in wrestling, he had a successful TV career as he was seen in multiple movies and reality shows.
Sangram described his win as the right step in the direction of Indian MMA and will have a better future for Indian MMA fans. He also requested Indian government to take some actions for Indian MMA and inspired young Indian fans to MMA.
Sangram also credited his coach for this immense victory, His coach Bhupesh Kumar has been with him in every action and worked on his skills.
