New Delhi: 13-year-old Bihar youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name in history books by smashing a swashbuckling century against Australia U-19 in an unofficial Test match in Chennai on Tuesday. Suryavanshi breached the 100-run mark in just 58 balls to register the fastest-ever hundred for India in U-19 red-ball cricket.

The explosive was unbeaten on 81 off 47 balls on Day 1 after giving India a superb start on the opening day.Starting Day 2 at 103 for 0 in 14 overs, Suryavanshi reached his maiden Youth hundred in no time at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Suryavanshi reached the three-figure mark in just 58 balls to script history. While he became the fastest Indian to smash a ton in U-19 red-ball cricket, he missed out on breaking Moeen Ali’s all-time record for the quickest century in Youth Tests by just two balls. The iconic English all-rounder holds the record for the fastest U19 Test ton in just 56 balls against Sri Lanka in 2005.
