5 Videos Capture Mayhem in Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina’s Resignation

Bangladesh Unrest: Bangladesh is under extremely volatile situation after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, as a result of a military coup amid violent protests against controversial quota move by the now fallen government which gripped the nation for days and killed hundreds of people.

On Monday, the unrest took a dramatic turn in Bangladesh after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister, which forced her to flee the country and take shelter temporarily shelter in India.

She landed at the Hindon Air Base in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad in a C-130 transport aircraft and met India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval hours later. 

Back in Dhaka, people, students who were part of violent protests seized Prime Minister’s residence and created a mayhem. Several videos surfaced showing an unruly mob in Dhaka creating a total chaos, destroying property, stealing valuables, vandalising Hasina’s belongings, eating leftover food.

PM Modi’s holds crucial security meeting in Delhi 

Amid unrest in Dhaka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial meeting with the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The meeting came as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled her country and landed in India on her way to London. She will be staying in India before getting an approval from Britain for asylum.

Modi was joined by other members of the CCS, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Bangladesh Army Chief takes over Dhaka

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced that he’s taking over the country after a dramatic development of Hasina’s resignation amid massive protests against her government that claimed more than 100 lives in the last two days.

The Army chief said he had met political leaders and told them the Army would take over responsibility for law and order. However, there were no leaders from Hasina’s Awami League party at the meeting.
