BREAKING: India and Pakistan Renew Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Agreement

India and Pakistan renewed the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Agreement for an additional five years on Tuesday. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced the news via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

“PM Narendra Modi ’s government will continue to facilitate our Sikh community’s access to their holy sites,” added the EAM.

The agreement, originally signed on October 24, 2019, facilitates the pilgrimage of Indian devotees to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal, Pakistan

The renewal ensures the uninterrupted operation of the corridor, allowing Indian pilgrims continued access to this important religious site.

In the press release, the Indian government highlighted that this extension will serve the needs of countless pilgrims who wish to visit the holy Gurdwara. However, it also reiterated its ongoing request for Pakistan to reconsider the USD 20 service charge imposed on each pilgrim per visit, urging that no fees or charges be levied on the devotees.
