New Delhi: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma went berserk as he got India off to a flyer despite losing his opening partner Virat Kohli early in their Super Eight clash against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday, June 24. India lost Kohli cheaply once again after being asked to bat first by Australia as the opener was dismissed on a duck by Josh Hazlewood in his very first over at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.
However, Rohit didn’t let Kohli’s dismissal affect his momentum on the other hand as he went after Mitchell Starc in the third over of India’s innings. The Indin skipper looked in fabulous touch as he started the over from the left-arm pacer with a brilliant pick-up shot which went for a six over deep extra cover.
That was just the start as Rohit went on to hammer 4 sixes and a four in the over to help India get 29 runs from it. The Hitman smashed a wide outside-off delivery for a six on the second delivery of the over before dispatching the next one for a four. The ball was bowled in the slot and Rohit hammered it over mid-on for an easy boundary.
He didn’t stop there and clubbed the next ball over deep mid-wicket for another six to make it 22 runs from only 4 balls from Starc’s over. The left-arm pacer bowled a dot ball next followed by a wide but that wasn’t enough to break the Indian skipper’s momentum as Rohit ended the over with another six, making it 4 sixes and a 1 four from six balls.
