New Delhi: After Inter Miami exited the MLS in the knockout stage, the club is already looking forward to the next season. Club’s managing owner, Jorge Mas, has revealed that the South Florida club have big plans for themselves. With Tata Martino stepping down as the club’s manager, the Herons are reportedly all set to bring in former Barcelona player Javier Mascherano.
That is just the tip of the ice of their elaborate plans regarding the club’s upcoming season. Mas revealed during an interaction with the press that they will bring in the best players from across the world as the budget has no limitations.
Though there are official confirmations about Mascherano’s appointment, according to media sources, he will replace Merino, who left the club for personal reasons. Having played with Messi in the past, the Argentine coach will sign a three-year contract with the club. Mascherano’s previous assignments included leading the U-23 team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and being in charge of Argentina’s U-20 team.

A lot of speculations have been on the rise regarding Inter Miami’s star player Lionel Messi, who’s contract is coming to an end after the 2025 season’s conclusion with an option to extend through 2026. Mas spoke on this and believed that the Argentina star will continue to play with the side as they head to a new stadium in 2026.
Messi came to the MLS club in 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain and has enjoyed a successful stint with the side. In 39 appearances, he has scored 34 times and made 19 assists for the club. Mas said that he would be talking to the Argentinian and was hoping for Messi to stay.
Since Messi’s move to the outfit, he has made a big difference to the side’s performance, leading them to two trophies. His arrival put a spotlight on the club, with many talents moving to the side, including his former Barca teammates Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets. Young talents like Diego Gomez and Fedrico Redondo have also come to the side.
Though Inter Miami enjoyed a great season, including a regular season points record during their 2024 Supporters Shield campaign, they are yet to convert their success in the knockout stage since entering the MLS.
