Punjab Kings sign Nehal Wadhera for Rs 4.20cr, KKR buy back Angkrish Raghuvanshi for Rs 3cr

New Delhi: Nehal Wadhera turned out to be the most expensive pick in the 8th set which consisted of uncapped Indian batters on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, November 24. Former Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Wadhera was roped in by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 4.20 crore at the mega auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to buy back talented young Indian batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi for Rs 3 crore while Sunrisers Hyderabad paid Rs 3.20 crore to sign uncapped batter Abhinav Manohar. CSK joined the race for both Wadhera and Raghuvanshi but eventually pulled out as both batters went to other teams.

Young opening batter Atharva Taide was the first player to go under the hammer in the set and was bought at his base price of Rs 30 lakh by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh remained unsold before teams joined the bidding war for Wadhera. CSK and Punjab Kings kicked off the proceedings for Wadhera before the likes of DC and GT joined in.

However, Punjab Kings eventually secured the signing of the 24-year-old Punjab batter. Wadhera has so far played 20 matches in his IPL career and has 350 runs to his name at a strike rate of 140.00, including two half-centuries. Meanwhile, Angkrish who proved his mettle at Kolkata Knight Riders in his debut season, was bought back by the three-time champions.

Angkrish played 10 matches for KKR in IPL 2024 and ended up scoring 164 runs at a strike rate of 155.24, including a solitary half-century. He will reunite with his KKR teammates next season and will look to continue to do well for the franchise.

Sunrisers Hyderabad buy Abhinav Manohar for Rs 3.20 crore

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who already bought Ishan Kishan for Rs 11.25 crore to bolster their batting line-up, invested heavily in Abhinav Manohar to further strengthen their line-up. Manohar was part of the Gujarat Titans squad last season. The Karnataka batter has so far played 19 matches in his IPL career and has 231 runs to his name at a strike rate of 132.76.

 Punjab Kings continued their spending spree at the IPL 2025 mega auction as they bought back uncapped Indian batter Nehal Wadhera for Rs 4.20 crore.
