World Chess Championship winners list: Can Gukesh become 2nd Indian to make history?

New Delhi: World Chess Championship will kick off on November 25, Monday and Gukesh Dommaraju, the 18-year-old Indian chess sensation will be in action to join the elite list of winning the World Chess championship. Ding Liren is currently holding the crown, if Gukesh defeats him then he will be crowned as the 18th world champion in Chess history.

This is also the first time that the Chess championship will be decided between two Asian players. The majority of Grandmasters like Magnus Carlsen, Garry Kasparov, Anish Giri, Hikaru Nakamura, and many more have chosen Gukesh to win the Chess championship.

Indian grandmaster Viswanathan Anand gave a cautious warning to Gukesh to not ease out in the match. There are 17 names in the elite list and everybody’s eyes will be on Gukesh to join the list.

The match is in the best of 14 rounds and 32-year-old Ding will go face-to-face against 18-year-old Gukesh. The youngest winner of the World Chess Championship is Garry Kasparov, who was 22 when he won the title in 1886.

Gukesh will break the record, if he wins the crown Gukesh was also in the form of his life in the last couple of years but will lack the experience compared to Ding’s experience.

Garry Kasparov and Emanuel Lasker won the world chess championship most times as both shared the record with 6-times winning the crown. Indian chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand also won the crown for four times in chess history. Anand is also the only Indian to win the glory and all eyes will be on Gukesh to become second Indian to win World Chess championship.
