New Delhi: The Barca legends played against Real Madrid Leyendas in Qatar, the first of two Clasicos to be played within a month. The game comes just weeks after the Barca Legends side opened their season with a 2-1 victory over Pele Pequeno Principe Legends, a team filled with Brazilian veterans, in Curitiba. The Blaugrana fielded a star-studded lineup that included Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, David Villa, and Eric Abidal.
Barca were the dominating side in the first half when Juan Pablo Sorin broke the deadlock within eight minutes from kick-off from a Ludovic Giuly cross. Barca doubled ahead when Ronaldinho curled a brilliant free-kick over Madrid’s defence wall and found the back of the net as the Brazilian turned back the clock.

Ronaldinho missed a few close calls of scoring a brace when he dribbled past Fernando Sanz, but the ball drifted wide. His performance no doubt stood out in front of a 31,000 crowd as the Brazilian set Roger Garcia. However, the latter hit the bar and missed an opportunity to put the side ina commanding position.
Real Madrid’s second half was much better, with Luis Figo scoring the first goal for Los Blancos. Edwin Congo stepped on a loose pass and ensured Real’s equalizer came within minutes. Barcelona had a chance to break the stalemate when they were awarded a penalty from Ricardo Quaresma going down in the box. However, Patrick Kluivert’s shot was saved, and the match ended 2-2.
This meant the game went into the penalties, which saw Barca win 4-1 in the shoot-out. The two sides will now face each other on December 15th in Tokyo and will see Andres Iniesta and Xavi both play for Barcelona Legends with Rafa Marquez and Javier Mascherano.
