New Delhi: The Poster boy of Indian Kabaddi Rahul Chaudhari recently announced his retirement from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) after he was unsold in the PKL 11 mega auction. Rahul spoke about his PKL experience as when the inaugural PKL auction was heading he was playing for his home state Uttar Pradesh in the nationals in 2010. Rahul also shared his experience when he was bought by Telugu Titans in the inaugural PKL auction.
Rahul was bought by Titans for Rs. 8.2 lakhs and after that his life was completely changed, he used to live in the village but now he is living in 5-star hotels, he used to travel in the general compartment for travelling but now he is traveling in the flights.
Rahul became a fan favorite in the first season itself and he reacted about his connection with fans ” “Fans chanting my name gave me the strength to perform. Telugu Titans holds a lot of importance in my life because I played six seasons with them, and the team and the fans propelled me to stardom. This connection will always be there for as long as I live.”
Rahul also discussed his retirement decision he announced before the PKL 11 auction that he would be retiring next year from the PKL but after he got unsold in the auction he reinforced his decision and retired from PKL. He said “It was a very difficult decision to make. Even my family didn’t know I was going to retire. When they heard about it, they called me and asked whether I’ve taken ‘Sannyas’ from PKL.”
Rahul Chaudhari’s Idol
Rahul’s idol in the PKL was star raider Ajay Thakur, Rahul used to idolise Ajay when he began his career. Rahul was very fond of Ajay’s skills, smartness, and his long hairstyle. He also got the opportunity to play with his idol when he made his international debut in the senior team. After seeing Rahul’s performance Ajay offered him to play along side him in the Air-India club and he accepted the offer and played with his idol.
