New Delhi: Melbourne Renegades Women will contend for the Women’s Big Bash League 2024 title with Brisbane Heat Women in the final clash of the 10th edition of the marquee T20 event. The clash is scheduled to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. The Renegades are led by Sophie Molineux while veteran Jess Jonassen has the command of the Brisbane Heat.
Coming into the final, both teams had similar stats on the points table as the Renegades sit on top with seven wins out of 10 games, having lost three and bagging 14 points with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.52. Brisbane Heat have similar stats except for the net run rate which is +0.38. Sydney Thunders and Hobart Hurricanes were the other two qualified teams for the knockout stages but the Renegades and Brisbane made it to the final.
While it is the very first WBBL final appearance for Melbourne Renegades, Brisbane Heat will play their fourth title-deciding clash of the tournament. Brisbane have won the title twice previously. They will be looking for their third title while Molineux would aim to script history, handing the Renegades their maiden title of the Women’s Big Bash League. It is surely going to be an exciting clash at the MCG.
