New Delhi: India pacer Harshit Rana impressed in the pink-ball practice match against Australia Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Sunday. Rana picked up a four-wicket haul to help India bundle out Australia PM XI for 240 runs in the practice match which was reduced to a 46 overs a side contest on Day 2 after the opening day was washed out due to rain.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the warm-up game to ensure they gave their pacers good practice with the pink ball ahead of the second Test against Australia in Adelaide which gets underway on December 06. Rana made full use of the opportunity as he troubled the Australia PM’s XI batters consistently during his spell.
Rana ripped through the opposition’s middle order with as many as 4 wickets in just 9 deliveries in the game. The Indian pacer opened his account by cleaning up a settled Jack Clayton on 40 on the 4th delivery of the 23rd over before removing Olivier Davies on a duck on the final delivery of the same over.
Rana returned to dismiss Australia PM’s XI skipper Jack Edwards cheaply on 1 before sending wicket-keeper batter Sam Harper packing on a duck to complete his 4-wicket haul. Rana finished with exceptional figures of 4/44 in his six overs in the game and was the highest wicket-taker for India.
