Mumbai: Rysa Panday follows in the footsteps of her sister Ananya Panday, who made her debut at Le Bal during its 25th anniversary at the age of 19 in 2018 before embarking on her Bollywood journey.
Le Bal traces its cultural origins to the 18th-century English tradition of the débutante ball, where young women were formally introduced into society. Traditionally, débutantes curtsied before HM the Queen, adorned in white gowns, gloves, and tiaras.
In France, the classic débutante ball emerged in 1957 but ceased in 1973. However, in 1994, Ophélie Renouard reimagined it as ‘le Bal,’ a modern version aimed at raising funds for charitable causes supporting young women.

In today’s digital era, where social media platforms like Facebook redefine societal introductions, Le Bal represents a unique occasion for the débutantes to make their couture and media debuts.
Each year, Renouard handpicks about 20 remarkable young women and their cavaliers to participate. The cavaliers don white tie attire, while renowned haute couture and couture houses dress each débutante for the event.
Le Bal stands as the sole charity ball worldwide where débutantes showcase haute couture, and attendance is exclusively by invitation—tickets cannot be purchased.
Beyond the glamour, Le Bal is centred on empowering young men and women while fostering international harmony. With participants from around 12 countries, it unites individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Guests join to honour the débutantes and cavaliers while contributing to causes that support the underprivileged.
