BGT: Where should Rohit Sharma bat in the Adelaide Test? Ravi Shastri answers

New Delhi: India will take on Australia in the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval on December 6. After winning the first Test by 295 runs, the Men in Blue are high on confidence going into the pink ball Test. The Aussies will be looking to get some confidence from the 2021 Day-Night Test match at the same venue when they bundled India out on 36 runs in the first innings and won the match convincingly.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma is back for the second Test after missing the opening match of the series due to the birth of his second child. KL Rahul who opened the batting in his absence did a great job and batted brilliantly in both innings of the Perth Test.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri on the ICC review said that it’s a great boost for the team and there’s no doubt about Rohit’s ability. Shastri further said that he’s very experienced and the team need that experience in the middle order. He also said that Rahul should continue to open and Rohit can bat at five or six.

“Where would Australia not like to see him? That’s the position he should choose. And he’s the leader of the pack, so he can afford to do that. I think he (Rahul) should carry on (opening) because Rohit has not had much time since he’s come here (Australia). Very quickly he had to play that Prime Minister’s XI game. But I would say carry on with the same setup. He [Rohit] can bat at five or six” Shastri said on the ICC review.

KL Rahul opened in warm-up match, Rohit batted at No. 4

KL Rahul opened the innings for Team India in the practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI and scored an unbeaten 27 runs before retiring out. Rahul looked comfortable against the new pink ball and batted brilliantly while the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma came to at no.4. He was very watchful in the swinging conditions and got out on just 3 runs facing 11 deliveries.

Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri has shared his thoughts on Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s batting position ahead of the Day-Night Test against Australia in Adelaide.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
