Shambolic collapse! India bowled out for 100 runs as Schutt picks fifer in 1st WODI

New Delhi: Team India bundled out for just 100 runs in the 34.2 overs against Australia in the first women’s ODI at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on December 5. Fast bowler Megan Schutt picked up a five-wicket haul as the Women in Blue struggled to score runs on the pacey surface.

Schutt removed both openers in the initial overs after India opted to bat first. Harleen Deol was looking good but Ashleigh Gardner dismissed her on 19 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur only managed to score just 19 runs. Rodrigues scored 23 runs off 42 balls and was the top scorer for India.

The lower-order batters also failed to make an impact with the bat as Harmanpreet and Co. bowled out for 100 runs. Apart from Schutt, Kim Garth, Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland and Alana King also picked up one wicket each.

Georgia, Litchfield provide Australia good start in run chase

Chasing the target of 101 runs, Phoebe Litchfield and debutant Georgia Voll provided Australia with a good start. Both batters stitched a 48-run partnership for the first wicket. Renuka Thakur removed Litchfield in the seventh over. She scored 35 runs off 29 balls with the help of 8 boundaries.
