New Delhi: Marc Cucurella is having a horror show against Chelsea’s London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, as he made two errors that leading to goals as Chelsea ended the first half 2-1 behind. The first goal was scored by the Summer signing, Dominic Solanke, as Brennan Johnson was able to nip in and drive forward thanks to a Cucurella slip.
He picked out Solanke with a low cross after glancing up and seeing him moving towards the Chelsea box. The home crowd erupted in cheers as the striker brilliantly got to the ball before Colwill and poked it into the net to make it 1-0 for Spurs.
Cucurella’s night only got worse, as he slipped yet again, just six minutes after Chelsea conceded the first goal as the ball was at Dejan Kulusevski’s feet after Spurs regained possession of it. He cut in with his left foot and searched for a shooting opportunity. When he finally does, he puts Spurs solidly in the lead by striking hard and low into the bottom right corner. After the goal was scored, Cucurella had the chance and changed his boots that seemed to have been the problem for the Spaniard.
Changing of boots leading to redeeming assist for Cucurella?
Well, eventually the night did have something good planned for the Spanish left back, as he was able to redeem himself on the counter for the Blues, where he found Jadon Sancho in the left side ahead of him. From the byline, Sancho charged infield towards the Tottenham box, where he beat two defenders. After looking up, he scored a spectacular long range goal off the right post to cut the margin to 2-1 in the 17th minute of the game.
However, it may count as a Cucurella assist, but there’s no doubt about the fact that most of the running and hardwork was done by the English winger as Chelsea managed to pull one back before heading into the second half, it’s game on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the London Derby has not disappointed so far.
