New Delhi: Lumbini Lions defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 33 runs in match no.33 of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024 on Tuesday, December 10. Nepal’s international star Rohit Paudel turned out to be the start for Lumbini Lions as he delivered a brilliant all-round performance to power them to victory against Chitwan Rhinos.
Batting first in the game, Lumbini Lions rode on a brilliant knock of 80 runs from skipper Paudel and a half-century from Saad Bin Zafar to post a strong total of 167/6 on the board in 20 overs. In reply, Chitwan Rhinos were restricted to 134/8 in 20 overs as they fell short of the target by 34 runs to suffer a heavy defeat.
The action will continue in the Nepal Premier League on Tuesday as Pokhara Avengers are currently locking horns with Karnali Yaks in match no.17 of the season. Pokhara Avengers won the toss and chose to bat first in the match which is being played in Kirtipur. It is a crucial tie for both teams as Karanli Yaks and Pokhara Avengers currently occupy the 4th and 5th spots respectively in the league table.
Karnali Yaks have so far managed two wins and as many losses in their first four matches of the season while Pokhara Avengers are fifth with a solitary win and two losses in their first three games. A win today will see the Pokhara Avengers overtake Karnali Yaks to go 4th on the Nepal Premier League points table.
