New Delhi: Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf and English batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge were named the ICC Player of the Month for November on Wednesday. Rauf piped Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who was in the race to bag the award but missed it by a whisker. Both the players received the award for the first time in their careers.
Rauf bagged the award on the back of a fantastic performance in Pakistan’s first ODI series win in Australia since 2002. The Pakistan fast bowler was named the Player of the series in the team’s historic victory taking ten wickets form three games at an average of 12 and an economy of 5. Rauf picked three wickets in nine overs in the first ODI match while followed it up with a remarkable five-wicket haul in the second match, which also got him the Man of the Match award.
Wickets in all three ODIs
Rauf did not keep quite in the third and final game of the series as he returned figures of 2/24 in seven overs, earning him a second successive Player of the Match award as Pakistan claimed the ODI series against the Aussies 2-1. In the T20I series as well, Rauf showcased his bowling prowess to the next level as he scalped 4/22 in the second T20I against Aussies in a losing cause though.
The Pakistan fast bowler completed the month with figures of 2/34 against Zimbabwe and courtesy his brilliant performances in the month, he beat Bumrah and Marco Jansen to emerge as the Player of the month.
“It is an incredible honor to be named ICC Player of the Month, and I am truly humbled by this recognition. This achievement is not just mine but a testament to the collective efforts of my teammates and the unwavering support of our passionate fans. Wearing the Pakistan jersey is a privilege, and moments like these motivate me to work even harder and push my limits. I dedicate this award to everyone who has been part of my journey so far, and I look forward to contributing more to the success of Pakistan cricket,” Rauf said in a media release.
