New Delhi: Delhi defeated Uttar Pradesh by 19 runs in the second quarter-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, November 11. Anuj Rawat scored an unbeaten 73 runs off 33 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries and five maximums. Delhi will face Madhya Pradesh in the second semi-final of the tournament on Friday, December 13.
After winning the toss, Uttar Pradesh elected to bowl first but the decision backfired as Yash Dhull and Priyansh Arya stitched an 81-run partnership for the first wicket. Nitish Rana provided UP with their first breakthrough in the 10th over, removing Priyansh Arya. He amassed 44 runs off 31 balls with the help of three boundaries and three maximums. In the very next over, Mohsin Khan dismissed Yash Dhull on 42 runs. Ayush Badoni and Anuj Rawat forged a 77-run partnership for the third wicket. Badoni was dismissed by Vineet Panwar on 25 runs.
Anuj played a sensational innings and scored an unbeaten 73 runs off 33 balls. His fiery knock helped Delhi to post a huge target of 194 runs on the scoreboard. Chasing the target, UP got off to a poor start and lost the wicket of Karan Sharma in the first over. Suyash Sharma removed Aryan Juyal on 11 runs in the last over of the powerplay.
Priyam Garg scored a brilliant half-century but wickets kept falling from the other end. Ayush Badoni removed Nitish Rana on 2 runs while Prince Yadav dismissed Sameer Rizvi (26) and Rinku Singh (10). Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohsin Khan made contributions with the bat in the death overs but Uttar Pradesh fell 19 runs short of the target.

In the first quarter-final, Baroda beat Bengal by 41 runs while Delhi beat UP by 19 runs in the second quarter-final. Madhya Pradesh defeated Saurashtra by six wickets in the third quarter-final while Mumbai also beat Vidarbha by six wickets in the fourth quarter-final of the SMAT 2024-25. Baroda will face Mumbai in the first semi-final while Delhi will take on Madhya Pradesh in the second semi-final on 13 December in Bengaluru.
