ICC pays birthday tribute to Yuvraj Singh with epic video – Relive the heroics

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) paid a fitting tribute to former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh as he turned 43 on Thursday. Yuvraj is regarded as one of the most flamboyant players Indian cricket has ever produced and the world cricket has very seldomly seen. With a blend of technique and aggression, the player from Chandigarh made headlines in the world of cricket for almost two decades.

From his fighting knock in the 2002 NatWest series final against England to his unprecedented and magical six sixes in one over at the inaugural T20 World Cup and to his heroic performance at the 2011 ODI World Cup, Yuvraj played pivotal roles and made a statement in Indian cricket with his immense contributions all through his career. He was most known for his resurrection work when Team Indian was caught in critical situations.

A batter par excellence, an athletic fielder

Yuvraj Singh was a multifaceted player as apart from being a terrific batter, he was equally impressive on field as well. He was best known for his athleticism and his ability to catch using his ‘superman’ skills and diving abilities. Yuvraj would seldom let a ball travel to the boundary if he would have been chasing it as he possessed the ability of running very fast. The global governing body, in the fitting tribute video, has not only showcased his skills as a batter but also reflected upon his fielding skills.

Apart from this, the flamboyant Indian cricketer was also known for his fighting skills and patience and the best example of it was his fight and eventually defeating lung cancer. Right after Indian’s triumph at the 2011 ODI World Cup, Yuvraj was detected with lung cancer but this big jolt did not deter him as he fought with it firmly and came out victorious back on the field before bidding adieu to his passion in 2019.
