New Delhi: After going down in the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide, Team India would be wanting to put up a good show in the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane starting on December 14. Indian batter Shubman Gill, at the pre-match press conference on Friday, emphasised on the fact that Team India needs to score big runs at first so as to be in command at The Gabba.
The prolific Indian batter did not play the the opening Test match at Perth due to a finger injury but displayed his skills to a certain extent in the second match, producing fine little knocks of 31 and 28 during the pink ball Test at Adelaide which India lost by 10 wickets. Gill during the press con said that as a batting group, the team is looking to post a big total first up in the innings and that has been the key discussion and every batter has his own plan.
A three-match series for India now: Gill
Gill admitted that the Indian team did not do well in the Adelaide Test match and now with the series poised 1-1, it becomes a three-match series. The prolific Indian batter also said that it’s important for the team to win in Brisbane as they will have an advantage going into Melbourne and Sydney. Team India have had at least six scores of 150 or less in recent times and Gill admitted that the piece of stat isn’t lost upon the batting group.
Surprisingly, skipper Rohit Sharma did not come for the press conference and the optional training session and when asked about his absence, Gill said that since it was an optional practice session, he decided to skip it as he has already practiced a lot. The onus will lie on the Indian batters at The Gabba to put up a good show.
