New Delhi: The opening Day of the third Test match between Australia and India at the Gabba in Brisbane was washed out due to the rain. Only 13.2 overs of play of possible on Day 1 after Team India elected to bowl first. The Aussies were 28/0 at stumps on the first day.

Rain halted the play many times and in the end at 11.45 AM IST (16:15 local time), the umpires called off the play. The last spell of rain started at around 7:20 AM IST after which the match did not resume.

The spectators will get a full refund from Cricket Australia (CA) after the opening day was washed out. The fans will get the benefit due to a rule that allows them to get a full refund if less than 15 overs are bowled in a day’s play. The second of the third Test will begin at 5:20 AM IST (09:50 AM local time) with a minimum of 98 overs to be bowled.

Team India won the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 295 runs in Perth but Pat Cummins and Co. made a strong comeback and won the second pink-ball Test by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval. Team India need to win all the remaining games of the five-match Test series to qualify for the third consecutive WTC final. The Men in Blue slipped to third spot in WTC points table after the Adelaide defeat. South Africa is in the top spot and Australia is in the second position.

Brisbane weather for Day 2 of AUS vs IND Test

According to Accuweather, there are chances of rain before the start of the first session on Day 2, and it will be cloudy throughout the day. Rain showers are expected from 9 AM local time for the next two hours approximately. But after that, it is expected to be cloudy, with less chance of rain. So we could see some interruption during the match, but there is a high chance to see plenty of action at the Gabba. The temperature is expected to be around 24-31 degrees Celsius.
