New Delhi: Delhi girls have performed exceptionally well in the pistol events of the 67th National Shooting Championship at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges in Delhi. Younger shooter Niamika Rana and Delhi’s para pistol shooter Adiba Ali have got everyone’s attention at the event. Niyamicka has won three medals including one gold, while Adiba won two gold medals.
Delhi’s women shooters have won a total of 15 medals including 4 gold in the pistol events of the 67th National Shooting Championship. Delhi State Rifle Association Chairman Jaspal Rana has congratulated the medal winners and has also expressed hope for a much better performance next year. He said that the interest in shooting among girls in Delhi has increased a lot in the last few years.
Niamika Rana won the gold medal with a score of 573 points, while Haryana’s Kanak won the silver medal with 572 points and West Bengal’s Antara Don bagged the bronze medal with the same score in the 10-meter air pistol sub-youth women’s national individual event. Niyamicka also clinched a gold medal in the 50-meter pistol junior women civilian event, while she also won the silver medal in the 10-meter pistol junior women civilian event.
Adiba Ali won two gold medals in para-shooting events
The 20-year-old shooter Adiba Ali has won two gold medals in the para-shooting events. Adiba won the gold medal in the 50-meter pistol (IPC) championship mixed (SH1) junior event with a score of 467 while Haryana’s Ashish Sharma won the silver medal and Delhi’s Bhakti Sharma won the bronze medal. Adiba Ali also won the gold medal in the 10-meter air pistol (IPC) championship junior women (SH1) event with a score of 538 while Pooja Agarwal of Delhi won the silver medal.
Delhi’s women shooters also performed brilliantly in the masters category competitions. Jyoti Rawat won the silver medal in the 10-meter pistol senior master women’s event and Rajasthan’s Pushpa Meghwal won the gold medal with 538 points, while Sheela Kanungo bagged the bronze medal with a score of 527. Delhi’s Balesh Devi won the silver medal with a score of 550 in the 25-meter pistol master women’s event while Telangana’s Malbika Barua won the gold medal with a score of 558, while Tamil Nadu’s P. Sophia Loren bagged the bronze medal.
Delhi’s Parisha Gupta, Naamya Kapoor and Tanisha Dabodia bagged the bronze medal in the 25-meter pistol junior women’s national team event. Nayasha Rana, Khushi Kapoor and Lavanya Chopra also won the bronze medal in the civilian women’s team event of this event. They also won the silver medal in the 25-meter pistol junior women’s civilian team event.
Rashmika Sehgal, Tanisha Dabodia and Saina Bharwani won the silver medal for Delhi in the 10-meter pistol junior women’s civilian team event while Meenu Pathak, Tanisha Dabodia and Saina Bharwani won the bronze medal in the 10-meter pistol women’s civilian team event.
