New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting woes continued during India’s first innings on Day 4 of the ongoing 3rd Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Tuesday as he was once again dismissed cheaply. Rohit was slammed by fans online as he endured yet another failure in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Rohit, who made his comeback in the 2nd Test of the five-match series in Adelaide, has looked far from his best in the series and has failed to notch up a single big knock. The Indian skipper has batted in the middle order with KL Rahul doing well as an opener alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal but the move has not quite worked in his favour.
On Tuesday, Rohit resumed India’s first innings on 52/4 with Rahul at the Gabba. The expectations were high from the Indian skipper with the visitors aiming to avoid the follow-on. However, Rohit couldn’t last long against the Australian pacers as he was sent packing by Aussie skipper Pat Cummins on just 10 off 27 balls.
It was a poor shot from Rohit, who went after an outside off delivery from Cummins which was pitched up. There was no foot movement as Rohit managed a thin edge and got caught by wicket-keeper Alex Carey behind the stumps. His early dismissal left India reeling at 74/5 in just 24 overs on Day 4. Fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration and lash out at Rohit for yet another flop show with the bat.
Rohit Sharma heavily criticised for another failure in 3rd Test at the Gabba:
Will be interesting to see what ends up lower when the series ends – Bumrah’s bowling avg this series or Rohit’s batting average.

Rohit Sharma’s horror run in Tests continues
Rohit’s horror run continued in Tests with the Indian skipper’s failure in the Gabba Test on Tuesday. Rohit has managed only 149 runs for India in his last 13 Test innings at an abysmal average of 11.69, including a solitary fifty. The Hitman has struggled to make an impact in the longest format and seems to have lost the pedigree to stay out in the middle and grind out runs.
His dwindling form has hurt India badly in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy with the team suffering one batting collapse after another. A defeat in the 3rd Test at the Gabba will severely hurt India’s chances of making it to the WTC 2023-25 final.
