New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its displeasure to the global governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) over the absence of country’s name from the tournament logo displayed during the live broadcast of India versus Bangladesh contest in the Champions Trophy 2025 on Thursday.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board sources, the ICC has admitted the error and assured that it will use the three-line logo featuring Pakistan name in all the other matches in Dubai. This will the same broadcast graphic which has been displayed in the matches in the host country. As part of the hybrid model for the tournament, India will be playing all their league games in Dubai.
‘Yes, it’s confirmed that PCB has written to ICC, and the ICC has assured the PCB that they will use the three-line horizontal logo with Pakistan name in all Dubai matches – the same broadcast logo graphic which was used in Karachi matches on February 19 and 21,’ a PCB source told news agency PTI.
It was a technical error – ICC to PCB
The apex cricketing body has told the PCB that it happened due to a technical error and wasn’t part of a deliberate attempt. During India’s opening game against Pakistan on February 20, the logo in the top left corner of the broadcast carried just the event name and but not the name of the host country Pakistan. The issue has come to the light ahead of the showpiece CT 2025 high-octane clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in Dubai this Sunday.
Meanwhile, India would be riding high on confidence before the encounter after beating Bangladesh in the opening by six wickets while for Pakistan, emerging victorious in the high-voltage drama would be of utmost importance after they lost their opener against New Zealand by 60 runs in Karachi.
