Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai react to Jasprit Bumrah’s ‘use Google’ comment on batting

New Delhi: Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s sharp witty response to a reporter on batting during a press conference in the ongoing 3rd Test between India and Australia at the Gabba has become the talk of the town. Bumrah came up with a cheeky response which caught the attention of fans when questioned about his batting credentials while being asked to asses India’s horror batting display on Day 3 of the Test match.

Bumrah reminded everyone of his batting prowess as he asked the reporter to use Google to see who holds the record for most runs scored in a single over in Test cricket. Bumrah was referring to the world record he created by smashing England pacer Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over in the Birmingham Test between India and England in 2022.

Bumrah backed up his comments by playing a key role in helping India avoid the follow-on during their first innings on Day 4 of the Gabba Test on Tuesday. He combined with fellow pacer Akash Deep to share an unbeaten 39-run stand for the 10th wicket to help India go past the 246-run mark in pursuit of Australia’s first-innings total of 445 runs to avoid the follow-on.

While Akash Deep scored an unbeaten 27, Bumrah remained not out on 10 and played his part in helping India void the follow-on. The pace spearhead also smashed Aussie skipper Pat Cummins for a massive six to prove his batting credentials. His batting heroics prompted the likes of Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Tesla CEO Elon Musk to join the bandwagon.

Talking about the 3rd Test between India and Australia at the Gabba, Bumrah and Akash Deep resumed the visitors’ first innings on Day 5 on Wednesday and could add only 8 runs to the overnight total of 252 runs. Travis Head dismissed Akash Deep as India were bundled out for 260 runs, trailing Australia by 185 runs.

The start of Australia’s second innings was delayed due to rain at the Gabba. It remains to be seen how Aussies will approach the second innings and if they will declare early to invite India to bat in their second innings.
