New Delhi: FIFA 2024 awards ceremony finally concluded last night, as the best of the best gathered together to celebrate the awards that were given to the most deserving players, who showed their class on the pitch throughout the year. With Vinicius Junior winning the best player award and Carlo Ancelotti being presented with the best coach award, it seemed like a perfect night for the Real Madrid players. However, one name that missed out on FIFA’s best eleven was Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, something which is surprisingly not being talked about enough.
Ever since the World Cup winner made his move to Madrid, there has indeed been a dip of form due to him not being able to adapt to the Spanish league’s style and play. However, last season Mbappe had his best ever season in the French league where his stats were absolutely insane for Paris Saint-Germain. There will always be controversies about top players not making it into the top eleven or maybe not even winning certain awards, but Mbappe not making the best eleven has to be a big time shocker for fans around the globe.
Did Mbappe deserve to be in the XI?

There have to some speculations about why Mbappe was not chosen to be included in the best eleven. It is true, as mentioned before, that he has not been at his razor sharp best ever since he left PSG, but he has delivered the goods for Real Madrid regardless. The previous season saw Mbappe score a total of 44 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain, which turned out to be his best ever season for the Parisians.
The Frenchman led his side to the Ligue 1 title, as he also won the golden boot award in the league. Besides, he was also the joint top scorer along side Harry Kane in the Champions League with eight goals. The French forward had a great start to his life in Spain as he scored on his debut against Atalanta in the Super Cup clash to help Real Madrid lift the cup. Ever since, he may not have been in the best form of his life but still delivering the goods on the pitch with nine goals and an assist in the league already.
What may have been the reason?
Mbappé didn’t make The Best Men’s 11 with 72 G/A, Yamal had only 5 league goals.

If we take a good look at the stats of the players who actually made into the Men’s best eleven, Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona did have his break-out season with the Catalan club and his national side, Spain in the Euros. However, his overall stats from last season look nowhere close to Mbappe’s, as he managed to have just 11 goal contributions in all competitions, throughout the season for Barcelona.
Euros campaign was undoubtebly a big boost for the teenage sensation but his performance at club level was nowhere close to the stats that Mbappe had for PSG. As a matter of fact, Mbappe’s current team mate who won the Men’s Player of the year, Vinicius Junior had 24 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid. Mbappe’s stats beat most of the forwards in that eleven, which suggests that if not Vinicius, him replacing Lamine Yamal in that lineup might have been debatable.
However, one thing that may have affected his chances of making it into the eleven is his current form for Real Madrid. It is easy to criticise a player, when he is having a slight dip of form after setting the high standards. His recent performances have exposed him to a lot of news mistakes that suggest that his offensive awareness has taken a massive dip and his sharpness in front of the goal isn’t the same anymore. The French forward is certainly getting there though, as he will be looking to improve on these certain factors.
Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid forward, was notably absent from the 2024 FIFA Men’s Best XI, despite a stellar 2023/24 season with Paris Saint-Germain Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
