COH Sports completes Sheffield United takeover, marking a new chapter for the Blades

New Delhi: Sheffield United have officially been taken over by COH Sports, an American-based consortium, marking a new era for the club. The group, led by businessmen Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, has acquired full ownership of the men’s and women’s teams, Bramall Lane’s hotel, and all associated properties. The announcement came on Monday, following the completion of a buyout from Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, ending his five-year tenure as sole owner.

Rosen and Eltoukhy, both experienced entrepreneurs, join the Sheffield United board as co-chairmen. Rosen is the founder of Resilience Capital Partners, while Eltoukhy chairs biotech giant Guardant Health. They have expressed their commitment to supporting manager Chris Wilder and CEO Stephen Bettis to ensure the club’s long-term growth.

In a joint statement, the new owners revealed their ambition to see the Blades return to the Premier League and compete consistently at the top level. “We’re honoured to take over this historic club and are committed to keeping it accessible and affordable for fans. Sheffield United is rooted in the city’s culture, and we aim to make the supporters the centre of everything we do,” they said.

The Blades, currently leading the Championship after their relegation last season, add to the growing list of English clubs under American ownership. The recent takeover of Everton by the Friedkin Group means half of the Premier League clubs are now majority-owned by American investors.
