New Delhi: The Vande Bharat Express is one of the foremost trains in India right now. The medium to long-distance superfast express train is popular for the many comfortable amenities it provides to passengers and also for its speed which has brough down the time travel between major cities in India considerably. Which is why, the Indian Railways is launching new Vande Bharat trains to connect every part of the country, ensuring smooth travel for passengers.

According to reports, the Indian Railways is going to give Jammu and Kashmir a new Vande Bharat Express train. Once the train begins its operation, it journey between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK). The Northern Railway (NR) zone will maintain and operate the train.

Vande Bharat: A first for Kashmir and third for Jammu

Once it becomes operational, the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will be Kashmir’s first semi-high-speed train while for Jammu it will be the third. Earlier, the Indian Railways introduced two ultra-modern trains in the region. The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train is expected the enhance rail travel in the region. It will boost the Valley’s travel and tourism industry and also lead to the economic growth of the region.

What is the distance and travel time of the train?

The Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF) developed the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express and as per reports, it will cover more than 100 km of distance is less than two and a half hours. This is the first direct train service between the Union Territory’s two capital cities.

Timings and route of the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express

The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will reportedly start from SVDK at 8:10 am and will reach its destination at 11:20 am. During its return journey, the train will leave Srinagar at 12:45 pm and will arrive at SVDK at 3:55 pm. The train will run on USBRL project.

The features of the train

The train will reportedly have 8, 16 or 20 coaches and there will be two types of accommodation, AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. It will operate for six days a week. The train has been built to run in those altitudes and temperatures. The train will have a heating facility inside the compartments and also for the water lines so that it doesn’t freeze.

What is the ticket fare of the train?

The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train’s ticket fare has not been finalised yet. As per reports, it is expected that the ticket price for AC Chair Car will be Rs 1500 to Rs 1600 and for Executive Chair Car will be Rs 2200 to Rs 2500. The Indian Railways is yet to publish the fare list of the train.
