Nishant Dev’s controversial exit from the 2024 Paris Olympics
The Indian boxer was disappointed with the judgement of his quarter-final match at the 2024 Paris Olympics and expressed his displeasure with the decision. He was just one win away from assuring a medal for the country. He suffered a split-decision loss against Mexico’s Marco Verde Alvarez in the 71kg category on August 3. Nishant won the first round by 4-1 and looked in control of the bout in the second round but the judges surprisingly sided with Alvarez in the round, putting him 3-2 ahead and he also lost the last round against his Mexican counterpart. He said that India lost not only a bronze but a gold medal as he see himself getting a gold medal.
