New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been recalled to the Indian team after a span of 14 months as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the white-ball squads for the upcoming home series against England, starting on January 11.
Shami was away from action for close to a year after suffering from Achilles Tendon injury and underwent for a surgery for the same. He returned to competitive cricket for Bengal in a Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh on November 13, 2024. He later also represented his state team in other domestic competitions such as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In SMAT 2024, Shami took 11 wickets in nine matches at an economy of 7.85 with the best figures of 3 for 21. The senior pacer will be part of the 15-member squad led by Suryakumar Yadav for the five-match T20Is against England. Interestingly, Shami played his last T20 International game against England in the 10-wicket semifinal loss in Adelaide in the T20 World Cup 2022.
