New Delhi: Former India cricketer Surinder Khanna came up with a witty response as he reacted to Yograj Singh’s recent controversial remarks on the legendary Kapil Dev. Speaking in an interview, Yograj claimed he wanted to kill Kapil and had gone to his house with a pistol in his hand after the former India skipper dropped him from the national team and also ignored him for the Haryana team.
Not many know that Yograj, who is the father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was an all-rounder himself during his playing days and played alongside Kapil for India and in the domestic circuit. The two shared a great bond on and off the field, however, things turned sour between the duo after Yograj was sidelined from the Indian team.
During his appearance on Unfiltered by Samdish YouTube channel, Yograj claimed he was left furious and wanted to put a ‘bullet’ through Kapil’s head after he was dropped from the Indian team. He claimed he went to Kapil’s house with a pistol but avoided a confrontation as Kapil’s mother was also at the house.
“When Kapil Dev became captain, he dropped me for no reason,” Yograj said. “I told him, ‘I want to put a bullet through your head, but I’m not doing it because your pious mother is standing here,” he added.
Reacting to Yograj’s controversial comments, Khanna added a humourous twist to the saga with his hilarious remarks. Khanna said Yograj is a dear friend and that even Kapil knows he is a ‘crack’. He also urged Yograj to stop making such comments by bringing up incidents from the past.
“He says anything, he’s our friend. Even Kapil Dev knows he’s a bit of a crack and speaks without thinking. That was 1983, and now is 2025, my friend. Hi Yog, don’t do this stuff (laughs),” Khanna told IANS.
