New Delhi: Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed talks about his departure from Real Madrid in the coming summer saying he won’t be the one who will “decide” on his exit from the club. Earlier Spanish radio station Onda Cero had reported that Ancelotti had decided to move out of the club irrespective of Madrid’s performance in the season, with his contract ending in 2026.

Ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with RB Salzburg in the Champions League, Ancelotti declined the rumours. The Italian manager noted that while he is aware that he will eventually have to leave the club, he doesn’t know when that will be. Ancelotti was clear that there wasn’t a particular deadline set for his departure from the club.

Ancelotti though mentioned that he had a target in his head which was to remain with the club until Florentino Perez was with the side. Perez was recently re-elected as the president of the club and Ancelotti noted that he wanted to be here for the next four years. He remarked that both could be leaving the club together “with all the affection in the world.”

Real Madrid are currently two points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga, with Barcelona seven points behind them. They have already won two trophies in the season which include the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Still, the team has faced a lot of criticism for their performance and have lost badly twice to arch-rivals Barca twice, with a 4-0 loss at home in the league coming in October and a 5-2 loss in the Supercopa final in Saudi Arabia last week. The defending champions have performed poorly at the UEFA Champions League as well, facing elimination from the tournament after losing to Lille, AC Milan and Liverpool and managing to beat Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta with close calls.

Despite everything Ancelotti maintains that he still feels loved by the club, media and fans. There are times that things around the club are exaggerated but he remains focused on his goal. On remaining at the competition, Ancelotti noted that while they may not have a great chance at survival, they will give their everything to the remaining two fixtures.

If they get a chance to play the playoff round, Ancelotti is certain to produce good results despite it being a demanding calendar already. Madrid will host Salzburg at Bernabu with a top-eight finish, which would have taken them directly to the final 16-stage, looking unlikely having taken just nine points from six games.

Carlo Ancelotti has noted that there isn’t immediate plans to move out of Real Madrid and would like stay until the end of club president Florentino Perez’s tenure.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
