WPL 2025 Points Table: Delhi Capitals narrowly beat Mumbai Indians in last-ball thriller

New Delhi: In what became a chilling contest in the final over, Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their calm to defeat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 2 wickets in a last-ball thriller of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Saturday. Chasing 165 for a win, DC went through a roller-coaster ride in the entire 20 overs of the chase but finally got home with couple of wickets to spare in their first contest of the event.

After Mumbai managed to score a moderate total of 164 in their stipulated 20 overs, it seemed to be an easy chase for Delhi especially after a fiery start with the bat from Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning. But Mumbai bounced back into the match with 4 quick wickets that pushed the DC side against the wall. From 60/0, Delhi were reduced to 76/4 in a span of just 3 overs and the result seemed to be quiet obvious from there.

But luck favour the brave Capitals side as they continued their fight till the last and emerged winners at the end. Shafali was the highest scorer for the side with 43 runs while Niki Prasad played a brilliant knock of 35 runs towards the end. Sarah Bryce chipped in with a quick 10-ball 21 while Radha Yadav scored 9 runs off just 4 balls to take the side home. For Mumbai, Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr picked two wickets apiece.

After an exciting second encounter of the WPL 2025, let’s take a look at the updated points table.
