New Delhi: After a lean phase across competitions in the 2024-25 season, Manchester City are slowly turning their campaign around in the Premier League. The Saturday clash saw them stun Chelsea with a 3-1 win despite conceding in the third minute of the game. Last weekend, Chelsea registered their first Premier League after a month of winless run, only to give away an early lead in the game.
It was business as usual at Anfield as Liverpool took home a comfortable 4-1 win against Ipswich Town who were clueless in from a ruthless Cody Gapko whose brace ensured that the Tractor Boys couldn’t anyway claw their way into the game. The win keeps them six points clear at the top ahead of Arsenal who managed a close 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. In a game which was marked by two Red cards was only won by Riccardo Calafiori’s winner in the 74th minute.
Third-placed Nottingham Forest who have been a surprising contender for the title this season suffered a heavy 5-0 loss against Bournemouth. Last weekend they were staring at a late comeback from Southampton and just about managed to take three points. This weekend though they failed to do the same, as their gap with Arsenal is of three points, and are behind Liverpool by nine points.
David Moyes would be pleased with a 1-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion, in what was his 700th game leading in a Premier League game. Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty strike before the break gave Moyes his second win in his second stint with the Everton side. Southampton had shown a promising start against Newcastle with an early goal but ultimately lost 3-1 as they continued to stay at the bottom of the table.
