New Delhi: India’s men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made a considerable jump in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Tuesday. The Indian pair climbed two places to take the seventh spot in the latest rankings list released but it is not because of their last performance at the India Open, where they bowed out of the semifinals clash but due to the dropping of former world champion pair in the rankings.

South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae, after beating the Indian pair in the semifinals of the event, crashed out in the finals of India Open which led to the duo slipping down in the rankings. The South Korean pair now have different partners. Meanwhile, Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen continue to top the doubles rankings.

PV Sindhu, Malvika Bansod slip in rankings

For the doubles Indian pair it was good news in the latest rankings, PV Sindhu and Malvika Bansod slipped in the women’s singles rankings. South Korea’s An Se Young maintains her dominance at the top of the charts.

Meanwhile, there has been no change in the Indian men’s singles rankings in the top 32 as Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy continue to hold on to their respective slots of 10 and 31. Outside the top 32, singles player Kiran George has fallen two places to be at the 37th spot and former world number one Kidambi Srikanth is also down by two positions to the 47th position.
