New Delhi: India will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in the finale of the Junior Asia Cup 2024 in Muscat, Oman on Wednesday. Team India, who have been clinical in the event so far, moved into the final after a 3-1 victory over Malaysia in the last-four stage game. Dilraj Singh, Rohit and Sharda Nand Tiwari scored the three goals for Indian while Kamaruddin Azimuddin scored a consolation goal for Malaysia towards the ending stage.
Indian colts have been unbeaten so far in the tournament and with a victory on Tuesday enroute the final, the defending champions stay on course for a hat-trick of men’s junior Asia Cup titles, having bagged the titles at the last two editions. They would like to continue their winning run and complete a hat-trick of titles at the big event.
High-voltage finale reprise of last edition
The high-voltage contest between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be a reprise of last edition’s title contest, where India had claimed a hard fought 2-1 win against their Asian rivals to clinch the gold medal. Meanwhile for Pakistan, the event has been equally successful as the Boys in Green also have been undefeated so far. Pakistan beat Japan 4-2 in the semi-final contest to book their spot in the final clash.
